Curriculum Guidelines and Standards

 

Dancers will need to be consistently proficient on right and left sides in all elements listed on grid in their current level, and the brackets above the current level, in order to move up.  For example, if your child is in Giggles & Wiggles, they will need to master the elements listed for that level in order to move up into the Tiny Ballet/Tap program.

Chaine 3x, tucks, single pirouette, intro allusions, pique turns, clean leaps (developpe and jete), 6-step non turning

INTERMEDIATE

Double pirouettes, inside pirouettes, 6-step turning, chaine jete, chaine axel, center leaps, turns and leaps, jazz split to floor, barrels, basic shoulder roll, double attitude leaps etc., allusions, leg hold turns, 4 ala secondes

ADVANCED

Triple pirouettes, tilts, double piques, hinge layouts, advanced floor work, advanced turning combinations etc.

 

Ballet

MINI

Barre:  1st and 2nd positions, demi plié, grande plié, tendues, and degages in 1st, ron de jambe in 1st, eleve, releve, passé retire, grand battement

Centre:  tendues, porte de bras, pirouette prep, ½ turn, basic tombe padebouree, walks, chasses, glissades, chaine, grand jetes, changements, soubresautes

JUNIOR

Barre:  add 4th and 5th position, frappes, develop (adagio), echappes en changement, fondue, sous-sus

Centre:  Introduce floor positions (criose, en face, ecarte, devant, derriere, etc), single pirouette en dehors, assembles, jetes, pas de chat, emboites, soutenu

BEGINNING

Barre:  Petite battements, double frappes, arabesque positions, fouettes on the barre, attitude

Centre:  Piques, single pirouettes from 4th( inside and outside)

INTERMEDIATE

Barre:  extensions, over 90 degrees, clean developpes, and fondues, using porte de bras with combos consistently, balance in positions consistently

Centre:  Promenade, pique soutenu, cabrioles, pirouette on dedans, pirouettes from 5th, sissones, double pirouettes, arabesque turns, attitude turns, fouettes 4+, tour jetes, adagio, contortombe, ashacots, basic petite allegro

ADVANCED

Barre:  Portebra, and epoma required, capable of all combos on releve, capable of reversing combinations, rond de jambe en l’air

Centre:  Breeza, breeza vole, advanced petite allegro,Triple+ turns, fouettes, 8+, tour jete

 

Tap

MINI

Flap heels, draw backs vs. back flaps, 3, 4, 5 count riffs, basic time step, paddle and rolls/paradiddle vs. dig brush step

JUNIOR

“Cincinnati” step (pull heel shuffle heel step), turning flaps, shuffle steps, and shuffle heel steps, 6 & 7 count riffs, double paddle and rolls, “Maxiford” step

 

INTERMEDIATE

Alternating pull backs, grab-offs on flat and releve, toe stands, “Bombersay” step

 

ADVANCED

Nerve tap reverse and alternating cramp rolls, alternating toe stands/”tippy’s”, single and switching pull backs, difference between swing and straight rhythm

 

 

 

 

 

Hip Hop

Due to the creative and style-based nature of Hip Hop, moving up to higher level will be based on the instructor’s discretion and evaluation of the student.
